Apple iPad Air 2 to have 'triple Retina' display: Report
Business Insider, Oct 10, 2014, 06.08PM IST
A developer claims to have found a clue in the beta for iOS 8.1, Apple's next software update for iPads and iPhones, that hints a sharper screen is in store.
Developer Hazma Sood said he discovered assets for "triple Retina" user interface elements for the iPad within the beta code for iOS 8.1, Apple's next software update for iPads and iPhones, according to 9to5Mac.
A similar discovery was made before Apple unveiled the iPhone 6 last month, as developer James Thomson also noticed a triple Retina resolution in the beta for iOS 8 for iPhones.
Take a look at the image in Sood's tweet below. It shows how sharp this triple Retina resolution would be compared to a double Retina resolution. Notice how the highlighted red circle looks much clearer than the others.

So what exactly is triple Retina resolution? Daring Fireball's John Gruber does a great job of explaining how this works for the iPhone, but basically, it means content would be displayed at three times the base resolution for the iPhone, which would ultimately result in sharper images.
Sood's discovery aligns with previous reports we've heard about Apple's next iPad. Reliable KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo believes Apple's next full-size iPad will cram between 30-40% more pixels per inch than the current iPad Air.
We're expecting to hear more about what Apple has in store for its next iPad at its press event on October 16.
After iPhone 6 Plus, Samsung Galaxy Note 4 fails bend-test
Business Insider, Oct 10, 2014, 05.45PM IST
Canadian YouTube user Unbox Therapy decided to test out the new Android phone and compare its structural integrity to the iPhone 6 Plus. This video comes from the same YouTube user who caused the bendgate controversy to go global with his iPhone 6 bend-test video.
According to Unbox Therapy, the previous version of Galaxy Note, Samsung Galaxy Note 3, was one of the sturdiest smartphones on the market. But Galaxy Note 4 didn't perform nearly as well.
Galaxy Note 4 seems to bend in exactly the same spot as iPhone 6 Plus: Just below the volume controls. The phone is seen to have a slight warp after Unbox Therapy exerts force around that area. But unlike iPhone 6 Plus, which stays bent, Galaxy Note 4 could be bent back into place by applying pressure to the other side of the phone.
Apple was quick to respond to the bendgate controversy. The company issued a statement playing down concerns over iPhone 6 Plus, remarking that "a total of nine customers" contacted it about the device bending during the first six days it was on sale. Apple even allowed CNBC to film inside the facility where iPhones are subjected to various tests
